2008-2009 Roundtables
You asked for it and the Polaris District Commissioners’ and Committee listened. The Polaris District Roundtables have moved to the first Thursday of the month. Gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. We also have a new location for all of 2008-2009; Nicolet High School will be the place to be for all the Scouting fun and information you can handle. Roundtables are for all leaders not just the Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. Our goal for 2008-2009 is to have at least one adult from every pack, troop and crew attend each monthly roundtables. We listened now it’s your turn. See you this fall at Nicolet High School!
2008 Fall Popcorn
Thanks to all the Polaris units that sold popcorn in 2008. The 2009 spring sale is just around the corner. This is a great opportunity to raise funds to get more of your Scouts to summer camp. Watch the www.milwaukeeboyscouts.org web site for more information on the spring sale.
Fall Cub Scout Recruitment
Please make sure all the applications and fees are turned in to the Scout Service Center before the end of November, so that your unit’s recharter packet has all your youth registered. Remember, a boy can join Scouting at any time during the year.
Centennial Quality Unit Award
Beginning November 1, 2008, your pack, troop, or crew is eligible to earn the new Centennial Quality Unit Award. The commitment forms that your unit filled out this past spring are available from the Polaris District Commissioner, Doug Reed II, along with the Centennial Quality Unit Achievement form. Your unit has until December 31, 2008, to complete and turn in the achievement form. Any questions, please contact Doug at doogie489@wi.rr.com.
Rechartering 2009
In 2009, all packs, troops and crews are going to recharter using the online unit rechartering system. The Polaris District Commissioner Staff is working on a location where units can come in and complete the rechartering process all in one night. This date will be sometime in late January 2009. Your unit will need to turn in a copy of your unit’s roster in order to pick up the recharter packet. These packets will be available at the Thursday, December 4th Roundtable. If you have any questions about rechartering or the online program, please contact Joshua Sova, Polaris District Executive at (414) 443-2865, or via e-mail at jsova@mccbsa.org.
Roundtables
Come to Polaris District Roundtable on the first Thursday of each month at Nicolet High School, with gathering at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. Not only will you get the answer to all your questions but it is packed full of ideas for your next meeting. Each roundtable is given a monthly theme that coordinates with the Scouting season. These are great tools to make your life as a leader easier.
Family Friend of Scouting
The annual Family Friends of Scouting Campaign is under way and is a method for all families in the Polaris District to help support the programs provided by the Milwaukee County Council. If your pack, troop, or crew has not signed up for a presentation, please contact Steve Faller, Family FOS Chair at jfall@yahoo.com or Joshua Sova, District Executive at jsova@mccbsa.org, to get a date on the schedule. EVERY unit needs to do its part this year to help fund Scouting programs for our youth. Let’s make 2009 the best ever for Family Friends of Scouting in Polaris District!
