New Leader Essentials
New Leaders Essentials training is an introductory session that highlights the values, aims, history, funding and methods of Scouting. Videos, discussions and hands-on reinforcement are presented during the 2 hour training session. This is for unit-based volunteers - Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venturing. Cub Scout Leader Specific Training
For Tiger Cub, Cub Scout and Webelos den leaders, Cubmasters, committee chairs and committee members. This training provides the specialized knowledge a leader needs to assume a leadership role. For more information contact Lisa Held - lheld@mccbsa.org

BALOO Training
BALOO stands for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation. It's designed to introduce Cub Scout leaders to the newly expanded opportunities for pack overnight camping. This is an energetic training that will cover everything you need to know to plan and run a pack overnighter. It's more than just camping, it includes ideas for outdoor activities, games and ceremonies; information on selecting and using camping equipment; how to run a campfire program; and hands-on Cub Scout cooking demonstrations. At least one adult leader from each unit must complete this training for a unit to participate in any overnight camping.

OWL (Outdoor Webelos Leader Training)
Helps to provide Webelos Leaders with the essentials in running an effective outdoor program with the main emphasis on camping. This year OWL will be run in conjuction with On to Eagle program at Camp Erin. For more information contact Lisa Held in the Camping Department.

District Planning Workshop
This will be a hands-on session to review prior year achievements and set goals and establish plans for the coming year. District chairpeople, commissioners and all district committee members should attend. Meeting takes place at the Scout Service Center, 330 South 84 Street, 7:00 p.m.

Cub Scout Camp Leader Orientation
This orientation session is for the person in the pack that will coordinate the pack’s participation in the Cub Summer program offered at Indian Mound Scout Reservation in Oconomowoc, WI. Meeting takes place at the Scout Service Center, 330 South 84 Street, 6:30 p.m.

Five-Star University of Scouting
The Five-Star University of Scouting offers all volunteer Scout leaders and parents the opportunity to gain new knowledge, insights, and practical ideas in this intensive 1-day advanced training program. Courses are specifically designed for shared learning with volunteers from four other councils in our area. Topics include Webelos-to-Scout transition, Scouting and the Internet, health & safety, recruiting commissioners, unit lifesaving for commissioners, training programs, effective roundtables, and much more. New participants will earn their bachelor's degree if they complete their courses. Returning participants can work towards their masters or doctoral degree.
