Council Services Department
is located in the Walter & Olive Stiemke Scout Service Center on the main floor. Hours of operation are: M-F: 8:15 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. & Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Staff member in charge of this department is Steve Olsen. He can be reached at (414) 443-2841, or solsen@mccbsa.org. Below is a listing of what the department can assist you with:
-
Register New Leaders & Members
New leaders and members should be registered immediately after they become involved in Scouting. Approved applications and fees are turned into the Council Services Department at the Scout Service Center. For further information, call Terri Best, Registrar at (414) 443-2840.
-
Open a Unit Account
To support your unit, the council maintains two unit accounts at the council services office. The normal unit account is for your unit to keep money available in-house to use for any purchase in the council service center including Scout Store purchases, registration fees for activities and camp, and Boys' Life subscriptions. We recommend that your unit keep a minimum balance of $50 or $100 in your account so that it is available for emergency purchases of badges or awards. The council will mail to you an annual statement of the account or you can request a statement of the account at any time. Deposits can be made to your account by making a check payable to the B.S.A. and sending it to the Council Services Department and noting that it is for your unit account. In addition, the council maintains a "registration account" for your unit. Its use is optional. Your unit registration account is the ideal place to set aside funds that are specifically to pay for registration fees and Boys' Life for your unit's charter renewal. Be sure to keep your list of unit leaders authorized to charge to the account updated. This can be updated by seeing the council services department and changes require the approval of the unit leader, unit chairperson, and unit treasurer.
Videotapes
The council maintains a library of videotape programs to support your unit with program resources and leader training. Tapes are available for checkout through the Council Services Department. An up-to-date catalog can be found in the Volunteer Resource Center located on the main floor of the Scout Service Center. For further information on the Volunteer Resource Center please contact Steve Olsen at (414) 443-2841.
