Polaris District Fall Kickoff
All unit leaders are invited to the fall Scouting program kickoff for Polaris District on Thursday, August 14, 2008, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., at Nicolet High School, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Rd., Glendale. Use the parking lot entrance near the tennis courts and follow the signs. Come meet the new Polaris District Chairman Ray Erbe, find out the most up-to-date information on the Fall Camporee, and have FUN! This gathering is for all leaders in Polaris District. See you on August 14!

Polaris Fall Camporee
The night awaits you for this dark and challenging Scouting event. Plan on attending this unique camporee which will turn the tables on what a traditional Scout camporee usually is. September 26-28, 2008, at Camp Erin is where the fun, challenge, and fellowship will take place. Ed Harris is the chair for this event and is planning several unique activities and bringing in outside speakers and displays to charge up your Scouts on the nighttime FUN. Watch your mail and plan on attending the Fall Kickoff for more information and cost.

Scoutmasters Only!
Do you have enough active leaders in your troop?

Now is the time to build the bridge to the 5th grade Webelos to come to your troop in spring 2009. Most of the boys that will cross over will also bring a parent or two along for the Scouting adventure. Every Webelos leader and Scout will be receiving the name and contact information for all the troops in Polaris District inviting them to find a troop that will fit their journey into Boy Scouts.

Scoutmasters if you would like the contact information for all the Webelos in your community send an e-mail to your District Executive, Joe Hackett - jhackett@mccbsa.org asking for them. Also if you have a one paragraph introduction to your troop to be included in the mailing being sent to the Webelos and leaders please send it to Joe Hackett by September 15.

In 2008 only 25% of the Webelos in Polaris District went into a Boy Scout troop. WE need to keep these boys and expect them to continue the Scouting journey in your troop.

2008 School Night to Join Scouting
Every pack in the Polaris District will be getting new Scouts to join their great Cub Scouting program this fall. Every pack will be asked to schedule and hold a join Scouting night this fall during the week of September 13-19. A member of the Polaris District membership team will be calling every pack to get their date on the calendar and offer any support to make your pack’s recruitment a success. Flyers, boy talks, yard signs and support on your join Scouting night are yours for the asking. Polaris District has a goal of inviting 200 new families to join Cub Scouting this fall, that’s less than 10 new boys in every pack in the Polaris District. If you need help or have a date for your fall recruitment please send them to Joe Hackett at jhackett@mccbsa.org. Your pack can be entered into a special incentive drawing if you schedule and hold a “Join Scouting Night” before September 20. More information will be available at the August 14, 2008, kickoff event.

Polaris District Summer  Camp Weekend!

Polaris District Packs, Troops and Crew, Your Commissioners Are Here To Help
The Polaris District Commissioner, Doug Reed, and his staff of Unit Commissioners have introduced a new tool for unit leaders to help them stay informed about Polaris happenings. Please pick up your next copy at the June Polaris District Picnic or look for it at the Polaris District page at www.milwaukeeboyscouts.org/polaris. 2008-2009 Roundtables
You asked for it and the Polaris District Commissioners’ and Committee listened. The Polaris District Roundtables have moved to the first Thursday of the month.
