Character Camp 2007
May 7-11 & May 14-18
The jubilant cheers of Milwaukee County students, enjoying Character Camp, will soon break the quiet calm that had settled over Indian Mound Scout Reservation. Character Camp is back and better than ever. Character Camp provides a year-end event, at Indian Mound Scout Reservation, to build on lessons learned throughout the school year within the Learning for Life Program. The students are invited at no cost, with their teachers, to experience team building at its best as well as the great outdoors. Character Camp provides many inner-city students an opportunity to go boating, participate in innovative team-building field sport games, take an imaginary voyage on the L.S. Gratz Landship, experience life as a medieval knight in the James Merry Castle, explore for gold in underground tunnels in the Layden Mining Company Mine, work on creative crafts projects, and learn to shoot a bow and arrow. For many of these students, this will be their first chance to
experience these great programs, as well as the great outdoors.

To continue to make Character Camp a fun and educational experience for Milwaukee County students, volunteers are greatly needed to help assist in the programs. We have volunteer opportunities for all age groups, young and young at heart. Character camp will take place on May 7-11, May 14-18 at Indian Mound Scout Reservation. Volunteering a day or two out at Character Camp will make a big difference in the lives of these Milwaukee County students. A typical day, for a volunteer, would run from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a delicious lunch provided in between
sessions.

If you would like to volunteer your time for this worthwhile event please contact Steve Lirely at
(414) 443-2860.
