Scout’s Honor Unit
Scout's Honor Tracking Chart (June)
The Milwaukee County Council, Boy Scouts of America is striving to provide quality, meaningful programs to the young people in our area, to aid them in achieving their full potential in life. It is understood that the true benefit of the Scouting movement comes directly from our Scouting units and if we are to improve the standard of our programs, units will make the difference.
Starting in 2008 and continuing through 2010, we will honor those units that go above and beyond the call of duty for the young people that they serve. These special units will be designated as Scout’s Honor Units and will lead the way for the rest of the council. This special recognition will not come easy, but will bring worthy praise and tools to continue to build and strengthen the unit.
Scout’s Honor Units will receive the following tokens for their heroic effort:
-
Collector’s edition council temporary patches for each registered member of the unit. (This will be a set of three, one for each year of the recognition program.)
-
A framed Certificate of Achievement for the unit’s trophy case.
-
Summer Camp Discounts: ($2-5/Scout reduction to MCC Cub Camps, or $10/Scout reduction for Lefeber Northwoods Camps).
-
Packmaster/Troopmaster Computer Software for the unit or a gift card of equivalent value for the Scout Shop.
-
Free rank advancement through October 31st of the present calendar year. (Cloth Badges)
-
Special recognition in the Scouters' Compass, on www.MilwaukeeBoyScouts.org, and at the Scouters' Recognition Dinner each spring.
-
Recognition item for the unit leader that will identify the accomplishment.
In order for a unit to achieve this high recognition, there are seven elements that must be fulfilled:
- Achieve Centennial Quality Unit Recognition.
- Participate in and implement techniques from the “Join Scouts Recruitment” training.
-
Participate in the “Unit Program Planning” training and implement skills into your unit’s annual operation.
-
Provide a summer camp experience for your Scouts.
-
Achieve membership growth over December 31st of the previous year, as registered in ScoutNET.
-
Achieve unit’s Friends of Scouting “Goal Card” level of financial support for the council. Goal formula = 60% of One-Scout Families (June 30th membership X 80%) X 1 Scout Support ($165)
-
Partner with the council by participating in one of the council’s product sales campaigns.
In order for Scouting to have the greatest impact on a young person’s life, we must retain Scouts in our programs as long as possible. Scout’s Honor Units will stand on the foundation of Centennial Quality programming and strive to fulfill the promises of fun and adventure.
Just as a Scout’s Honor is sacred, so to is your commitment to provide the best programming possible, and we hope to recognize your unit as a Scout’s Honor Unit.
